The Last BIG Show: Recap

We held our final BIG Show at the Community Living facilities in Alexandria, with Wine & Cheese on Friday, 17 April & Family Day on the 18th. Folks were met on both days by a rotating roster of Greeters, who handed out People’s Choice ballots (which doubled as door prize draws) and answered questions.

Then it was time to mingle with the crowds to take in the 120 artworks by 35 Collectif artists.

It was a happy bunch!

Special this year, a music room with several hand-made guitars of elaborate design by Robert Colosino.

Folks, young & old, could try the instruments, Robert even offered coaching both days.

There was brisk business at the Book Table, with local authors signing & selling their works. Friday night was also about the cheese from Dutch Touch & Glengarry Fine Cheese. With wine, of course!

Opening night is very social, with the opportunity to talk about the art & catch up with friends.

Saturday saw a good crowd too.

We had cheese, of course. But also coffee and a large selection of cookies. Organizing treats for a few hundred people is a logistical challenge. [Understatement!] Sylvie Juteau, our new chief of hospitality did a stellar job on her first outing.

On Saturday the serious artists are more . . . relaxed.

And folks can take their time revisiting the exhibition, choosing their pick for People’s Choice.

The 2026 BIG Show People’s Choice winner is Michelle O’Connor, with Reclaimed Radiance, acrylic on driftwood. Congrats Michelle!
