Collectif Challenge: Lunar / Lunaire

By Victoria Stevenson The subject was Lunar….I drew this recently. It’s basically THE magical girl associated with the moon. It isn’t in anime, but I thought I would draw her in my style. I call it “Moonlight Densetsu”.

Description: I’ve always loved Sailor Moon as a kid, normally my favourite would be Sailor Mars but since Usagi is a crybaby and I related to her a little too much I always had a soft spot for her. And, as an adult, I relate to her more than ever. Not just her being overly emotional, but being so resilient in the face of adversity. Sure this might not look like the usual anime styled one I grew up with but it is the woman that I look up to and wish to emulate throughout my life.

By Margaret Stewart How our little earth survives by the gifts of the Moon cycles.

We really don’t notice it as much as the Sun but we would not do very well without its life cycles.
Enjoying a nite sky is grand and reminds us how we are  so connected to the what’s going on in the night sky.

We see lots of folks painting the sun but, the moon?

The glow from the moon can be so enticing, from the very early August moonrise at 4pm near harvest time to an early morn as below.

Each day the moon reflects and gives us a show. Take a look up  at the sky more often and check it out.

By Barb Lehtiniemi I’d like to describe how I meticulously set my camera to get a decent moon shot. In all truth this was a quick and lucky snap as a flock of snow geese flew overhead, with the moon as a backdrop. Most of the credit, therefore, goes to the geese.

By Susan Irving Well, I don’t know about lunar, but this first one is kind of “loony”.  Drawn sometime in the 90’s.  I was feeling silly.

Abduction, coloured pencil on paper

I painted this one several years ago to hang outside on my barn wall. It is, sadly, becoming a bit weather beaten.

Night Flight. Acrylic on board

This one has also been up on my barn wall for a few years, but it is holding up really well.
