That post I sent about trying to work with bigger shapes?  It has evolved, or devolved, into this.

There’s a surprise.  I can’t decide if I should walk away and move on.

It came to this because, it seems, I am a landscape painter whether I want to be or not. I worked on this still thinking shapes and have it down to essentially four shapes. But is it just something that has been portrayed 1000 times before?  I’m also of a mind that the bottom is boring, but I don’t want to crop because, to my mind,  the portrait orientation is integral to the composition.

Arrgghhhh!

  1. Nature is never boring, Lynne. I love this painting and reminds me of several places in Glengarry. So peacefully beautiful. Thanks for sharing your process and your questions.

  2. It is so lovely and serene, but I am wondering if perhaps it needs a little bit more work in the foreground. I love your treatment of the sky.

    • I agree about the foreground. This one has been set aside. It’s on watercolour paper and floats in a pile of others. One day I may look again.
