Collectif Challenge: 3Jul2024, Sloppy

By Susan Irving A sloppily created painting of a sloppy subject.

By Milo Smith I had to scratch my head for this one and don’t think I am quite sloppy enough.

#1 is sloppy grass cuttings running down the road after a heavy burst of rain.

#2 is a nice, neat ornament liquified randomly.

#3 is the same ornament with a coloured gradient map applied.

Finally, #4 is a liquified clematis.

By Ruth Stanton Here’s my sloppy effort at illustrating a nonchalant but sloppy waitress.

One summer I worked as a waitress at a Howard Johnson’s restaurant in Hatfield, Connecticut. I soon learned that I was not cut out to be a waitress. I carried my trays with much greater caution than this waitress does.

By Isabelle Utovac Tanned hands, food, café setting, all make me think of summer. Mains bronzées, nourriture, le décor d’un café, tout me fait penser å l’été.

Reflections on my early morning routine

Every morning, I look at you
I admire you
You have aged so well, more or less
But it's still a mess

Touching you,
It gives me comfort and confidence
It hides the parts I don't address
But it's still a mess

You are a crown of glory,
I hold it back
A human monstrance, that can bless
But it is still a mess

I accept that what I can't change about you.
So maybe those reading this can guess
It is my hair
and it's a mess

  1. Thank you Susan and Milo for your contributions to the June challenge. It looks like most of us have been rather sloppy on that one. Or maybe it’s summer, finally and we’re busy. I heard the wake up call and commit to it. Promise?
