The 2nd Annual Juried Show at the Nor’Wester & Loyalist Museum came down 30 June. Twenty-four people were on hand for a last look round & an intriguing Artists’ Q & A.

A great opportunity to chat, catch up & discuss art.

Erica explained her process & working with metal leaf.

Brenda (hand in the air on the right) explained her lengthy research & particular raku firing to create the astonishingly metal-seeming helmet clay work.
She also shared the Japanese process of repairing cracks in ceramic with gold. [Kintsugi, also known as kintsukuroi . . . mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum.] One helmet had a gold repair, done with gold leaf.
Folks shared photographic tips, colour choices, encouraging the urge to “do things differently”
The final touch was announcing People’s Choice winner: Erica Taylor for Cat Sticker. If the name & image seem familiar it’s because we announced Erica’s work as a Juror’s Choice at the opening of the show!

Our final 2024 show is coming up 27 July at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum in Dunvegan, vernissage 11 -13:00. See you there.
The discussion was full of learning and inspiration. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to my peers explaining their process, their experiences and their feelings. Thank you all for partaking.
