Coffee House Recap, Framing: 19May2024

Eighteen folks were a keen audience at the 13 May Collectif Coffee House for a session on framing. Key question: why frame artworks?!

Answer: because it can add value! Francois Desjardins had a series of other responses, all with accompanying visuals from a gallery in Abu Dhabi to the Chagall Museum in Nice. Many well-placed arguments for framing your art.

Then Bud Thompson gave reasons for building your own frames: aesthetics, cost savings, artistic ownership. He even built half a frame in just a few minutes to demonstrate the ease of construction with a few simple tools. [Could this be the basis for workshop? Ed.]

Members of the audience were suitably impressed.

Both speakers were peppered with comments and questions at the end. Samples were eagerly examined.

We’ll take July off to enjoy summer but hope to see you at the next Coffee House in September.
