The Big Show Recap, 23Apr2024

Well over 200 people attended the two events of The Big Show 2024

Despite blustery, damp weather, crowds came out for Friday evening’s Wine & Cheese. Two types of wine with 18 varieties of cheese from our three local purveyors: Dutch Touch, Fauxmagerie Zengarry & Glengarry Fine Cheese.

The crowd needed to keep their strength up to view the 117 artworks on display.

On Saturday, cookies and coffee supplied energy.

On both days folks could be seen, ballots in hand, viewing & reviewing the varied artworks, circling the large exhibition venue. They were on a mission — to select their favourite. Not an easy task.

Five voters received nifty door prizes for taking part. There was also ample time & opportunity for art talk, or just catching up.

Member David Burry received the Big Show 2024 People’s Choice Award for his 60-inch square acrylic on canvas work, Barnfind #4, 1938 Fargo.

Our next show opens at the Glengarry Nor’wester & Loyalist Museum in Williamstown, Friday 24 May at 6:30. Follow this website for updates.

  1. Thank you, Yvonne for a lovely summary. And Milo for your pictures. Both gives an accurate feel of the Big Show 2024. Definitely, this is worth the experience for the artists and for the community. Looking forward to next year’s event.

  2. Dear members and organizers,

This was the first time I attended a CAGAC art show and I can assure you it won’t be the last. The talent in Glengarry is amazing. Lots of art works and the coffee and cookies was a nice touch. Keep up the good work and thank you.
