Collectif Creativity: 10Oct2023

by Lynne Ayers

I find this piece exciting because I think it is leading me to something I’ve been thinking about lately – about history, about personal stories, about how we are all connected to the past.

It is 12 x 12″. I don’t have a title for it, I don’t even know if it is finished, I don’t know which orientation I like best.  It is a reworked piece, reworked many times with molding paste underneath, plus acrylic and collage. I have never liked what was on this canvas before but I do like this, at least right now.

[Ed. Which orientation of 1-4 below do you prefer? Why?]

  1. Number 2! I see a person almost walking towards the edge of the canvas. Thanks for asking, Lynne. What a great idea to rework a piece to make it the way you like.

  2. The first one! I like the fact that the building in #1 is upside down – I see it as being in the process of completing a revolution, sort of like on a clock, and it is half-way through its passage of time. The idea of it being on its way to migrating back up to the top again (ie. right side up) gives a sense of the passage of time and of history repeating itself. I think I would call this piece Full Circle – the geometric circles in it that aren’t quite complete make this kind of fun, too!
