Christmas novel 2023 By Laura Peck
Title: tbd
The novel’s biggest question: acceptance?
My audience: First, I know that I write for me LOL! Thus, my audience is mostly women over 30.
Their takeaway: a refreshing perspective on a Christmas adventure.
I’m grateful to belong to CAGAC. Not only for the scrumptious cookies we share during our coffee houses, but also because of the amazing and brilliant writers of all sorts there are in this group, cf the Write Thing event. Plus, I want to make the most of my membership! Therefore, I’m officially committing to finishing the first draft of my Christmas Novel 2023 by… Christmas 2023. Obvious, isn’t?
I’m asking you all to be my accountability buddies!
My challenge:
1. Reuniting two previous novels I started 4 and 2 years ago,
2. Allowing me more preparation time to make the most of their 40,000-ish words.
3. Giving more substance to my characters and relevance to my characters.
Now imagine on repeat, a couple of hours, every morning. Yes! Everyday.
Ô night divine by Celine Dion
Jesus is born, Alleluia! By the Tenors
Les anges dans nos campagnes par un chœur d’enfants
Chantez Emmanuel! By the King’s choir
Addictive and endless list… Religious or popular, Christmas starts with joyful and light carols and songs, yet sometimes it can be blue too.
I’ve been into Christmas since I was … a very young child. Is it because of an untold family trauma? Or because of money restrictions? Or my divorce? Or my move to Canada? Or my beliefs? Or the power of love? Or the power of peace?
Christmas is full of hopes and gatherings, sorrows, and surprises.
Most importantly Christmas happens around kitchen and coffee tables, there’s always food to be prepared and shared.
Christmas winter wonderland needs a bit of refresh, too.
